Professional Biography:
Dr. James M. Spencer is a native of St. Louis, Missouri. He received an M.S. From Stanford University and an M.D. from the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Columbia University. He completed an Internship in Internal Medicine at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York , and his Residency in Dermatology back at Columbia. Next, he completed a Fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery with Rex Amonette at the University of Tennessee, Memphis.

Following his Fellowship, Dr. Spencer took the position of Director of Mohs Surgery at the University of Miami. While in Miami, he founded and served as first Director of the University of Miami Cosmetic Laser Center. Most recently, Dr. Spencer has accepted the position of Director of the Division of Dermatologic Surgery at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. Dr. Spencer is an expert in the recognition and treatments of skin cancer, and in cosmetic surgery, with a special interest in laser treatments. A frequent lecturer on Dermatologic surgery both in this country and abroad, Dr. Spencer is the author of 30 scientific papers.
